In 2005 I was lucky enough to spend some time travelling around the heartland of America capturing images for my Signals from the Frontline project.

I instantly fell in love with the southern states, and wanted to try and capture it’s wide open spaces and it’s distinct idiosyncrasies: the endless mailboxes, the villa style colonial homes, the alien-like water towers and the skies that go on forever. There is something very timeless about these places, often it feels as if time is running slower, and that you are alone in a vast expanse, barely seeing signs of life or modernity.
