The Brighton National Speed Trials, normally held on the second Saturday of September each year, is one of the oldest running motor races in Britain, having been going, pretty much continuously, since it’s first race on 19th July 1905.
It’s the highlight of many motor sport fan’s calendar and, as a Brighton resident, it’s easy to get along to and one is easily sucked into the event. Petrol head or not, it’s pretty hard to not be impressed by the condition, speed and sheer noise of some of the machines that take part in the racing.
My brief for these images was to try and capture something interesting and new, a different perspective on just standard car shots, so I got in close, used the bright sunshine and polished chrome to my advantage.
